Urban Electric Power (UEP) is a Pearl River, New York-based energy storage company that develops, manufactures, and sells rechargeable zinc-manganese dioxide (zinc alkaline) battery technology. Originally spun out of the City University of New York (CUNY) Energy Institute with foundational support from ARPA-E, UEP has transformed the familiar chemistry of everyday AA alkaline batteries into a powerful, rechargeable energy storage platform suitable for grid-scale and commercial applications.
