Urban Electric Power
Urban Electric Power (UEP) is a Pearl River, New York-based energy storage company that develops, manufactures, and sells rechargeable zinc-manganese dioxide (zinc alkaline) battery technology. Originally spun out of the City University of New York (CUNY) Energy Institute with foundational support from ARPA-E, UEP has transformed the familiar chemistry of everyday AA alkaline batteries into a powerful, rechargeable energy storage platform suitable for grid-scale and commercial applications. Their modular systems - including stackable 4D battery modules, indoor commercial cabinets, MiniPods, and outdoor utility-scale Pods - are designed for fast installation, easy permitting, and flexible scalability across a wide range of use cases including data centers, food processing, public safety, commercial real estate, and off-grid microgrids.

The system is UL certified, FEOC-free, and proudly manufactured in the United States, qualifying customers for key federal tax credits and incentives. With over 12 million hours of operational validation by partners including Godrej & Boyce, NYSERDA, Sandia National Laboratories, the US Navy, and CSA Group, UEP's technology has a robust real-world track record.
