Rewbi
Rewbi is a San Francisco-based cleantech company using artificial intelligence to optimize the dispatch of grid-connected battery storage systems. Rather than relying on human traders to manually monitor grid conditions and update battery schedules, Rewbi's AI platform tracks hundreds of live market inputs in real time and makes charge/discharge decisions far faster than any human operator. Since electricity prices on wholesale markets can swing by 300% or more every five minutes, Rewbi's speed and precision are critical: the system charges batteries when power is cheap and discharges when it is expensive, reportedly more than doubling the revenue a battery asset would otherwise generate.
Rewbi's business model is built around contracted revenue streams for battery storage project owners. The company leases battery capacity for a fixed monthly fee, then earns revenue by trading the stored energy on the grid - capturing the arbitrage spread with its AI engine. This "energy-as-a-service" approach lowers the barrier for battery storage developers to monetize their assets without needing their own trading infrastructure. Since joining Y Combinator, Rewbi also became a registered power company on ERCOT, the Texas grid operator, giving it direct market access to one of the most active wholesale electricity markets in the United States.
Rewbi is significant to the US energy supply chain because it addresses a critical gap: the monetization and operational efficiency of grid-scale battery storage, which is essential for integrating intermittent renewable energy and reducing reliance on fossil fuel "peaker" plants. Over 1% of global carbon emissions stem from natural gas and other reserve generation kept on standby for grid emergencies. By replacing these reserves with intelligently dispatched batteries, Rewbi contributes directly to decarbonization while making the grid more affordable and resilient. The founding team's combined 18 years of experience at the intersection of energy and AI - including a prior successful exit (inBalance, acquired by Stem, Inc.) - positions Rewbi as a credible and technically differentiated player in the fast-growing battery dispatch software sector.
