Revel
Revel (legally Revel Transit Inc.) is a Brooklyn-based clean energy infrastructure company founded in 2018 with a mission to help major cities transition to a zero-emission electric future. Originally launched as a shared electric moped service, Revel pivoted to become New York City's leading provider of public EV fast charging, building a network of urban "superhub" charging stations designed specifically for the density and demands of city life. Its charging sites feature large numbers of stalls to minimize wait times, fast DC charging capable of getting drivers back on the road in as little as 15 minutes, and a consumer-friendly mobile app for real-time availability and session management. Revel serves individual EV drivers, ride-hail operators, and electric fleets, with key installations at high-traffic locations including JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and major boroughs across New York City.
Revel's significance to the US energy supply chain lies in its role as a systems integrator for urban EV charging infrastructure - bridging the gap between power utilities, real estate hosts (hotels, parking garages, retail centers), and end-users of electricity in the transportation sector. By deploying dense, high-throughput charging networks in underserved urban markets, Revel accelerates EV adoption among ride-hail drivers and fleet operators who rely on fast turnaround. The company has delivered over 21.5 million kWh of charging through its network, with 100+ live stalls and 260+ more under development. Its infrastructure model - anchored by fleet and autonomous vehicle customers - positions it as critical backbone for the electrification of urban mobility.
In May 2026, Revel announced a definitive agreement to combine with Voltera, creating a scaled EV infrastructure platform targeting fleet and autonomous vehicle operators across 11 major U.S. metro markets, with over 1,000 charging stalls operational or under development. Under the deal, Revel CEO Frank Reig will lead the combined company under the Voltera brand, with EQT serving as majority owner and Global Infrastructure Partners (part of BlackRock) - Revel's existing lead sponsor - retaining a minority stake. The combination reflects Revel's evolution from a NYC-focused operator into a nationally significant platform for urban EV infrastructure.
