Quidnet Energy is a Houston-based long-duration energy storage company pioneering Geomechanical Energy Storage (GES) - a patented technology that stores excess electricity by pumping water deep underground into subsurface geological formations, where it is held under high pressure. When power is needed, the pressurized water is released back through hydroelectric turbines to generate electricity. This process can store energy for 10 to 100+ hours, making it a true long-duration solution capable of delivering 24/7 firm power to the grid. Each module delivers 1-10 MW of capacity and is designed to be highly modular and scalable, targeting GW-per-year deployment potential.

What sets Quidnet apart is its deliberate use of mature, existing U.S. supply chains - specifically well-drilling equipment, hydroelectric turbines, and oil and gas infrastructure - rather than requiring new, exotic materials or manufacturing capabilities. The company's technology is compatible with non-hydrocarbon-bearing geologies found abundantly throughout the U.S., particularly in areas already connected to major transmission networks. This approach radically reduces cost, accelerates deployment timelines, and repurposes the skilled workforce of the fossil fuel industry for the clean energy transition - a rare win-win for both energy reliability and economic transition.

Quidnet's significance to the US energy supply chain is substantial. The company has partnered with CPS Energy (the largest municipal utility in the US) to build a grid-scale GES project in Texas, secured a 300 MW strategic partnership with Hunt Energy Network targeting ERCOT grid deployment, and received $10M in ARPA-E SCALEUP federal funding - one of only eight companies selected. As the grid integrates more intermittent renewables, Quidnet's ultra-long-duration storage, built from domestic supply chains and proven drilling technology, positions it as a critical enabler of reliable, affordable, carbon-free electricity across the United States.

Funding

Over $60M raised across 6 funding rounds including a Series B, multiple ARPA-E grants (including a $10M SCALEUP grant in 2022), and a $10M strategic investment from Hunt Energy Network (May 2024).
