H3X Technologies is a Denver, Colorado-based manufacturer of ultra-high power density integrated motor drives (IMDs) for aerospace, defense, marine, and heavy industry. Founded in 2020 and launched from stealth in 2021, the company's signature innovation is achieving power densities up to 12 kW/kg continuous - roughly equivalent to shrinking a dishwasher-sized conventional motor down to microwave size while delivering the same power output. Their HPDM product family ranges from 30 kW to 500 kW today, with megawatt-class units (up to 3 MW) in active development, capable of powering hybrid-electric airliners carrying up to 100 passengers. A distinguishing feature is the co-integrated inverter built directly into every motor drive, eliminating separate power electronics components and further reducing system weight, volume, and complexity.

H3X's technology is uniquely versatile: all IMD products can function as either motors or generators, making them ideal for hybrid electric architectures used in aircraft, ships, and industrial systems. The company has completed NASA Phase II and Phase II-E contracts, serves a broad customer base of aerospace OEMs, defense contractors, and marine operators, and is already generating revenue (reportedly on track to 5x in 2024, with a path to profitability in 2026). H3X proudly designs, develops, and manufactures all products in the USA, positioning itself as a cornerstone of the domestic advanced manufacturing renaissance.

For the US energy supply chain, H3X represents a critical enabling layer. As industries from maritime shipping to regional aviation to industrial fracking seek electrification pathways, the bottleneck has consistently been weight- and volume-efficient electric drivetrains. H3X's motors directly address this constraint, enabling hybrid-electric and all-electric configurations that reduce fossil fuel consumption and dependence on foreign energy sources. With backing from Lockheed Martin Ventures and a growing DoD customer base, the company also strengthens US defense-industrial supply chain resilience - ensuring America has a domestic source of world-leading electric propulsion technology rather than relying on overseas suppliers.
