Group14 Technologies is the world's leading silicon battery materials company, producing its proprietary silicon-carbon composite anode material, SCC55®, for lithium-ion batteries. Founded in Woodinville, Washington, Group14 invented and patented a breakthrough approach to replacing conventional graphite anodes with a silicon-carbon composite that dramatically improves battery performance. SCC55® enables up to 43% gains in energy density, charging speeds as fast as 0-100% in 90 seconds, and up to 3,000 charge cycles - solving the core limitations that have held back EVs, consumer electronics, grid storage, and electric aviation.
Group14's technology stems from its "Applied Innovation" methodology - a parallel approach to both material science and scalable manufacturing. The result is SCC55®, a porous carbon scaffold infused with silicon that can be integrated into existing lithium-ion cell manufacturing lines without retooling. The company has built a global manufacturing network: BAM-2 (Moses Lake, WA, targeting 20 GWh by 2027), BAM-3 (Sangju, South Korea, 10 GWh online today), and a silane precursor factory in Spreetal, Germany. With over 200 patents and 25+ million devices already enabled, Group14 is the only company producing silicon anode materials at true EV-scale.
Group14 is strategically critical to the US energy supply chain as it directly addresses the nation's dependence on imported graphite - a material dominated by Chinese suppliers and flagged as a critical supply chain vulnerability. By manufacturing SCC55® domestically in Washington State and securing a U.S. DOE award negotiation of up to $200M for a silane factory in Moses Lake, Group14 is building a vertically integrated, domestically anchored supply chain for next-generation battery materials. Its customer base of over 100 global cell manufacturers and $750M+ in signed agreements with leading EV and consumer electronics OEMs positions it as a pivotal enabler of US battery independence and electrification goals.

Series B (2020): $17M, led by SK Materials, OVP Venture Partners. Series C (2022-2023): $614M total, led by Porsche AG, with Decarbonization Partners, Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, and others; also received $100M DOE grant. Series D (2025): $463M, with SK and Porsche among participants; acquired 100% ownership of South Korean JV (BAM-3). Total equity raised: $1B+.
