Fervo Energy is a Houston, TX-based enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) company on a mission to transform geothermal energy into America's most dependable and affordable source of clean, 24/7 carbon-free power. The company has pioneered a next-generation approach to geothermal development by applying proven oil and gas technologies - including horizontal drilling and distributed fiber optic sensing - to unlock geothermal energy in locations previously considered uneconomic. This technological breakthrough dramatically expands geothermal's geographic and resource potential, moving it from a niche, location-dependent energy source to a globally scalable clean power platform. Fervo operates projects in Nevada and Utah, with its flagship Cape Station development in Beaver County, Utah, expected to be the largest next-generation geothermal project in the world at 500 MW upon completion.

At the core of Fervo's technology is its "GeoBlock" concept - a standardized 50 MW Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power plant modular design, enabling repeatable, factory-like deployment at scale. The company has secured major supply chain partnerships with Baker Hughes (power generation equipment), Turboden (ORC turbines for up to 1.7 GW), ABB (motor control solutions), and Vallourec (domestic tubular steel, representing up to $800M over five years), establishing a fully domestic geothermal supply chain. Fervo is also advancing a digital twin platform in partnership with PNNL and NVIDIA to integrate AI and real-time field data for optimized reservoir management.

Fervo Energy is strategically significant to the US energy supply chain as it represents the leading commercialization effort for next-generation EGS - a firm, dispatchable, carbon-free resource that can complement variable renewables like wind and solar. With surging power demand from AI data centers and electrification, Fervo's 24/7 baseload clean power is increasingly attractive to utilities, hyperscalers, and grid operators. The company went public on Nasdaq (FRVO) in May 2026, raising $1.89 billion in its IPO, and was ranked #1 on TIME's 2026 list of America's Top GreenTech Companies, cementing its position as the defining company in the enhanced geothermal renaissance.
