Convalt Energy
Convalt Energy, Inc. is a New York-based integrated renewable energy company focused on restoring domestic solar manufacturing in the United States. Founded in 2011 (as Convalt Energy, LLC), the company originally developed renewable power projects in frontier markets across Southeast Asia and Africa before pivoting decisively to U.S.-focused solar manufacturing in 2021. A key inflection point came when Convalt acquired SunPower's manufacturing lines from their Hillsboro, Oregon facility, relocating them to upstate New York and establishing a foundation for large-scale American solar production. The company employs advanced Heterojunction Technology (HJT) in its monocrystalline solar panels and targets residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale customers. Its flagship Watertown, NY facility (Factory 1) achieved commercial operations in 2025 at 1.3 GW module capacity, with a 3.6 GW Project Solis facility planned for New Mexico.
Beyond manufacturing, Convalt is building a truly integrated energy value chain spanning power generation (solar, wind, waste-to-power, energy storage), data center development, and solar panel recycling. The company has an ambitious pipeline including a 2 GW HJT cell manufacturing facility in Watertown (NY), a 3.6 GW integrated cell and module factory in New Mexico, a 12 MW solar generation project in Maine, and a 1.2 GW+ hyperscale AI-focused data center campus in Gallup, New Mexico - with a first recycling facility co-located at the New Mexico site for a fully circular manufacturing model. Convalt has stated ambitions to become the nation's second-largest producer of advanced monocrystalline solar panels.
Convalt Energy is significant to the U.S. energy supply chain precisely because it addresses one of the sector's most critical vulnerabilities: domestic solar manufacturing capacity. By acquiring and repurposing SunPower's idle U.S. production lines, Convalt kept key manufacturing infrastructure on American soil rather than allowing it to be absorbed overseas. With combined planned capacity exceeding 9 GW across its two main factory projects, Convalt is positioning itself as a cornerstone of the domestic solar supply chain - reducing U.S. dependence on imported panels, creating American manufacturing jobs (with a deliberate focus on hiring veterans), and building the recycling infrastructure needed for a truly circular solar economy. The company is a portfolio company of ACO Investment Group.
